ENERGY COOPERATION PROGRAM
The program is designed to explore and analyze the energy reality in Latin America within a global context. Our main objective is to study the correlation and interdependence between the security and management of energy sources, economic growth and the performance of the energy sector, as well as the correlation between the development of the Sector and the social progress of Latin America. Considering the growth in global energy demand, projections for the future and the potential of natural resources in the region, this program currently emphasizes renewable energies, biofuels, energy efficiency and environmental management within the cooperation framework. With these objectives, CEELAT has worked with the governments of the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, the Inter-American Development Bank, USAID, GIZ, CSIS, ACORE and LAC-CORE, among others, to produce publications and offer round tables, workshops, conferences and forums on the main topics of cooperation in the sector. With Westeva LLC in the development of interactive tools for the evaluation and feasibility of resources for energy generation, as well as with multiple unions and private sector companies in the preparation of informative bulletins and the creation of work groups.
– Cooperación Energética en el Hemisferio Occidental: Beneficios e Impedimentos (2010) : Este libro examina el estado de la cooperación energética entre productores de petróleo y gas natural del Hemisferio Occidental y las oportunidades para una mayor cooperación. Es el resultado de dos años de extensa investigación en cada país y entrevistas con actores claves, incluyendo gobiernos y representantes del sector de hidrocarburos. El estudio se distingue por su enfoque integral en el que se hace un análisis específico de las condiciones actuales y proyectos futuros en cada país.
